Matt Joy

Matt Joy, is an Italian Freelance DJ, Graduated in Scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts, has shown interest in art in general, Theater, Cinema, Radio, Painting, but always there has always been music alongside these passions .

At the age of 14 he starts tinkering with an old console, bought with two other friends and thus begins the birthday parties and small parties, he is immediately noticed by a local radio (it was time for free radio) and they want it in their team, thus began his long journey with music, between radio programs as a speaker and as a DJ in the events that organized the radio, in 1985 he began his escalation in Sicilian discos: Marabu`, Makauda, ​​Shiagù, La Focetta, Accademia, Movid @, Calipso in, Noctis, Grog, Blackout, Woky K.

In 2003 he was summoned for an arduous commitment, and he was always ready for new challenges, of course he accepted, he became DJ resident and Art director of the Marvin Club Disco. He put them into practice and launched themed evenings, also taking care of the ´ scenic aspect, evenings that are very successful, creating a large audience and extraordinary presences from all over Sicily.

In 2005 they offer him a new contract and therefore to stay, but Matt decides to leave everything and continue on his way, begins to propose his themed evenings around Italian clubs, then goes to Malta and continues his ascent to Spain, Greece, Romania.

In 2012 he was summoned by a company in Germany and decided to settle there, but he also did not stop there he continued as DJ Freelance and began playing in many German and Swiss clubs and it was in Switzerland in Lugano that they gave him the confidence to his themed evenings and from 2012 Friday in Lugano is a “desire for retro” an evening of the 20s with scenography and themed clothing, with electroswing music, but after 7 long years, in 2019 also in Germany they give him confidence and Erfurt, proposes the same evening now consolidated with success in Lugano. The musical genres played by Matt Joy are: Nu Disco, Funky soul, Nu Jazz, Jackin House, Soulful.
